Type:

Full-time, W-2 (weekly pay) — 100% travel About the Work SBR installs underground fiber optic infrastructure on projects across multiple states. We are building a traveling crew that moves from project to project as work is awarded. If you like being on the road, working steady hours, and getting paid weekly, this is the job. Responsibilities Operate vibratory plow and/or trencher to install underground conduit to specified depth of cover Verify and respect 811 utility locate markings; maintain safe clearances from existing utilities Read and follow construction prints, route maps, and client-specific standards (specs change by project and client) Maintain accurate depth of cover and report any deviation Document work daily with photos in the project's field documentation platform (OX, Vitruvi, or client equivalent) Identify and report rock, cobble, or unforeseen conditions before proceeding Perform daily equipment inspections, greasing, and basic field maintenance Assist with equipment loading, tie-down, and transport between job sites Work safely in and around active roadways, following all traffic control requirements Adapt to new markets, new clients, and new crews with a professional attitude Requirements Verifiable experience operating a vibratory plow, trencher, or similar underground utility equipment Willing and able to travel out of state for extended periods (typically 3-6 weeks on, then home time) Valid driver's license and clean driving record — CDL Class A strongly preferred (equipment and trailer transport) Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and DOT physical if CDL is required Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including cold-weather markets Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor as needed Comfortable with shared crew housing while on assignment Must be dependable — travel crews depend on everyone showing up Prior fiber optic or underground utility experience strongly preferred Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate based on experience — on prevailing wage projects, pay follows the applicable Davis-Bacon wage determination for that project and classification Lodging provided and paid by the company — hotel or furnished house (Airbnb), arranged before you arrive. Housing is shared with the crew; each worker has their own bed and private room when available Weekly pay ; workweek runs Sunday through Saturday Overtime paid per federal and applicable state law Steady work — as one project wraps, we move to the next W-2 employment (this is not a 1099 position) Southern Broadband Resources is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
