Job Description

Job Title:
Quality Technician Job Description The Quality Technician performs in-process and final product inspections to ensure all products meet established specifications and quality standards. This role uses a variety of precision measurement tools, documents inspection results, supports audits and corrective actions, and collaborates closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing process. Responsibilities Perform in-process and final product inspections to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards. Conduct dimensional measurements using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and, where applicable, coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Document inspection results clearly and accurately, maintaining complete quality records and reports. Identify defects or nonconformances and promptly escalate issues to the appropriate personnel. Assist in root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities. Support internal and external quality audits, including those related to ISO or customer-specific standards. Review production processes to ensure adherence to established quality procedures, work instructions, and inspection criteria. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to investigate and resolve quality issues. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean and Six Sigma projects, to enhance product and process quality. Maintain calibration records and ensure that all inspection and measurement equipment remains properly calibrated. Assist with first article inspections (FAI) and validation activities to support new product introductions or process changes. Essential Skills Strong understanding of quality control principles and inspection techniques. Ability to perform quality assurance and quality inspection activities in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in using precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO, AS9100, and IATF (depending on industry requirements). Basic knowledge of statistical process control (SPC). Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and nonconformances accurately. Effective problem-solving skills to support root cause analysis and corrective actions. Good communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting inspection findings. Strong documentation skills for maintaining accurate inspection records and quality reports. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as effectively within a team environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience performing quality checks and quality control activities in a manufacturing or production setting. Familiarity with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for dimensional inspection, if applicable. Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Comfort participating in internal and external quality audits. Ability to support first article inspections (FAI) and validation activities. Willingness to interview and collaborate onsite with quality leadership and cross-functional teams. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing and production floor environment. You may stand for extended periods and work in proximity to machinery, with potential exposure to noise and varying temperatures. The position may require shift work, overtime, or weekend availability depending on production demands. Appropriate attire and adherence to safety practices are expected to ensure a safe and efficient work setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
