Competitive Job Summary:
Serves as a journeyman Inspector, with multidiscipline certifications performing inspections/tests in support of plant work activities. Coordinates required inspections and/or tests and assists responsible engineering, modifications, maintenance personnel in resolution of problems. Serves in a developmental/training capacity working towards technical qualifications in specialized areas such as volumetric certifications and/or special programs, i.e.; radiography, eddy current, ultrasonics and other NDE/QC certifications or specialized programs as required to meet work loads. Analyzes examination data or results and prepares written reports and quality assurance documents attesting to component acceptance or rejection. Utilizes the necessary measuring and test equipment for specific applications. Interprets specifications and procedures with regard to assigned area of responsibility. Prepares and issues status reports for the scheduling, tracking and reporting of applicable work activities. Interfaces with other organizations, as necessary, to gather information and prepare plans for scheduling quality assurance work activities that meet plant requirements and schedules. Performs surveillance/assessment activities on plant equipment or work activities to verify conformance to acceptance criteria.Supervision Received:
Work assignments are made by supervision. Tasks are performed from verbal instructions and without supervision. Skills and Proficiencies (May be job or organization specific): Demonstrated ability to apply logic in performing various QA inspections and interpret results. Demonstrated ability to recognize procedural inadequacies and recommend appropriate changes that affect equipment selection and examination coverage as well as technique improvements to meet specified examination parameters. Demonstrated communication skills; give clear direction, negotiation skills and the ability to confront difficult and adverse situations. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interface with higher levels of management. Minimum Qualifications (Consistent with Classification Standard): Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements Shall be a high school graduate or equivalent. Shall have experience in work and specified certification areas with assignments leading to work at the Senior Level grade. Must meet applicable certification requirements for Level II in the specified QC certification areas and NDE level II certifications in surface examination test methodsMT, PT, VTW, VTI 1,2,3,4
as necessary to meet plant work loads. Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access and S-3 and S-4 medical qualifications when applicable. Must be able and willing to assume "on-call" rotational assignments which may include 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week availability. Must be willing and medically able to work rotating shifts and maximum overtime permitted by TVAN procedures during peak periods. Must be able and willing to travel to plant locations as required when performing assigned tasks and, as necessary, to be temporarily assigned to a field location.
