Job Description

Position Summary:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections and laboratory tests on aerospace components and raw materials to ensure compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product integrity, supporting production teams, and contributing to the facility's overall quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform dimensional inspections on composite and metallic components using standard measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges) and automated inspection systems (e.g., CMM, vision systems). Conduct laboratory testing on materials (e.g., gel time, burn-off, DSC, SBS, DMA) according to documented procedures and test methods. Accurately document test and inspection results in accordance with quality system requirements (AS9100, NADCAP). Support root cause investigations and nonconformance analysis by collecting and documenting quality data. Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, test standards, and work instructions. Ensure proper identification, labeling, and traceability of samples and test data. Maintain cleanliness, calibration, and organization of laboratory equipment and inspection tools. Escalate quality concerns to appropriate personnel and participate in corrective/preventive action discussions. Follow all safety protocols and support compliance with company environmental, health, and safety policies.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in materials science, engineering technology, or related field preferred. 1-3 years of quality inspection and/or laboratory testing experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with inspection equipment and mechanical testing instruments. Working knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or NADCAP. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use electronic quality systems (e.g., SPC, ERP, MES). Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently or in a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. All candidates for roles that directly manufacture or disposition product shall receive eye exams (for color-blindness) and a rudimentary English reading examination prior to receiving a job offer, and annually while employed Ability to communicate in English via written and spoken word
Preferred Skills:
Experience with composite materials or testing of aerospace-grade laminates. Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or similar credential is a plus. Experience working in a lab accredited to
ISO 17025
is advantageous.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed in both laboratory and production floor environments. Physical demands of the job include: stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, light lifting (up to 25 pounds), grasping, hearing, visual acuity, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, fingering and climbing and wearing PPE. Exposure to chemicals, mechanical testing equipment, and elevated temperatures (e.g., ovens, hot presses).
