Job Description

The Quality Control Technician is an active participant in the implementation of Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs. This position assists in monitoring compliance of X-Ray systems to ensure the highest quality products possible, while maintaining stringent documentation.
SCHEDULE
Mon-Thurs 5:30am- 4:00pm; Fridays, Weekend and Overtime as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conduct X-Ray Line Challenge tests as determined by schedule. Perform finished product inspections for foreign contaminants. Perform tasks including but not limited to ingredient/product sampling and line monitoring. Perform physical inspections and tests on packaging materials. Perform QC next day X-Ray setup. Communicate/Troubleshoot with equipment technical services via phone on an as needed basis. Collect and analyze samples in accordance with QA Procedures at specified frequency, ensuring results are within specified ranges and completed/recorded in a timely manner. Collects and manages the retention sample program. Holds product that is out of specification, log, and handle in accordance with procedure. Assists with Hold Program as needed to include follow up. Responsible for Temperature Log maintenance and follow up. Completes paperwork with accuracy, and detail guided in accordance with procedure. Accurately enters test/inspection results into computer and prepares reports. Maintains good morale and positive attitude. Responsible for reporting all food safety and quality problems to direct supervisor and management. Perform other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
6 months - 2 years prior production/manufacturing QC experience or relevant lab technician experience
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write and speak English. Must be detail oriented and organized. Ability to multitask and adapt to an evolving environment. Must demonstrate independent and critical thinking ability. Must be comfortable working with computers and have knowledge of MS office. Must be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment. Must be able to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Bilingual skills a plus.
RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports directly to the Quality Supervisor. The QC Tech works closely with other team members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
QC Tech must be able to lift 30-40 lbs with or without assistance. The working environment is a clean, climate-controlled, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, but may require some outside maintenance as needed. May require working in cold room temperatures <40°F. Must be able to pass a drug screen as well as a criminal background check. Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions, food tasting and smells including all food allergens. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stretch. This job requires the employee to be able to read, write and communicate verbally in English. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
