Position Summary Kett Engineering is seeking a full-time, experienced Materials Lab Technician to support on-site laboratory operations in Elmendorf, TX. This role is responsible for material sample preparation, laboratory testing support, equipment maintenance, data collection, and general lab operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with shop and laboratory equipment in a technical environment. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare material samples for testing by cutting, sanding, polishing, and conditioning specimens according to established procedures.
- Operate shop and laboratory equipment, including saws and other cutting tools, to produce samples to required dimensions.
- Support laboratory testing processes and ensure materials are prepared accurately and efficiently.
- Collect, document, and record test data using laboratory instruments and measurement equipment.
- Troubleshoot laboratory equipment issues and assist with repairs or component replacement to minimize downtime.
- Receive, handle, organize, and store incoming materials and laboratory supplies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory work area.
- Follow all safety policies, laboratory procedures, and quality standards. Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of directly applicable materials laboratory, testing, or sample preparation experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with a similar hands-on technical skill set if experience is not directly related to materials lab work.
