Job Title:
Receiving Inspector Job Description The Receiving Inspector supports daily receiving operations in a valve manufacturing environment, ensuring that incoming materials meet engineering standards and customer requirements. The first half of the day focuses on supporting internal operations, while the latter half centers on customer deliveries, accurate documentation, and coordination with the quality team. Responsibilities Place incoming materials into Arrived status in the MRP system promptly and accurately. Confirm that incoming part quantities match corresponding purchase order quantities. Inspect parts against engineering documents, standards, and specifications to verify conformance. Receive and process purchase orders into the MRP system once parts are verified as acceptable. Learn and perform First Article Inspections as required to validate new or revised parts. Learn and complete Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for non-conforming materials and document findings clearly. Adjust work priorities as needed to support customer requirements and production schedules. Collaborate with the quality team, including Quality Manager and Quality Analyst, to resolve quality issues and improve processes. Assist with or complete special projects at the direction of the Quality Manager. Operate Powered Industrial Trucks safely once certified to support receiving and material handling activities. Essential Skills 1-2 years of experience in quality control, including hands-on inspection work. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and other general metrology equipment. Minimum 2 years of experience in receiving and inspection of manufactured and purchased parts. High school diploma or GED. Minimum 2 years of experience using general metrology equipment in a light engineering environment, including height gauges, verniers, and calipers. MS Office experience, including the ability to use common productivity applications. Working knowledge of an MRP system. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to operate Powered Industrial Trucks and successfully obtain certification. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent accurately in a production and quality context. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with IFS or similar MRP systems. Knowledge of the valve industry, including components and applications. Familiarity with casting processes and inspection requirements. Exposure to machining operations and related quality standards. Understanding of PCB (printed circuit board) industry practices is a plus. Customer service mindset with a focus on supporting internal and external stakeholders. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support both operations and customer delivery needs. Why Work Here? The standard schedule is a first-shift assignment from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with an additional 3-5 hours of overtime typically available. You will work with general metrology equipment such as height gauges, verniers, micrometers, and calipers, as well as computer systems running MS Office and an MRP platform. The role may require operating Powered Industrial Trucks once certified, and you will spend time both at inspection stations and in receiving areas handling incoming materials. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77041. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
