Job Summary

Take your manufacturing, automotive, or mechanical assembly experience to the next level by building real satellite hardware in one of the most advanced space manufacturing programs in the country. Based in Texas, this role validates critical dimensions on complex aerospace structures using state-of-the-art precision equipment and software like Spatial Analyzer and PC-DMIS. In addition to hands-on inspection and alignment, this position serves as a lead for daily metrology operations, coordinating team workflows, task assignments, and production priorities. Schedule:

Monday-Thursday, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM (4x10 schedule)

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Workflow Coordination:

Manage metrology tasks via internal tracking systems (Jira/equivalent), prioritize measurement requests, assign tasks to balance workload, schedule shift/overtime coverage, and report daily status and risks to Quality Management.

Precision Inspection & Alignment:

Perform dimensional measurement and alignment of large satellite structures and assemblies using Laser Trackers, Portable CMMs (Romer Arms), and 3D scanning systems.

Software & Systems Operation:

Utilize Spatial Analyzer (SA) for data collection, alignment workflows, and deviation analysis, ensuring strict measurement traceability and repeatability.

Data Analysis & Quality Reporting:

Analyze dimensional data against engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements to identify non-conformances, generate detailed reports, and support root cause/corrective action efforts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve dimensional issues, advise on measurement strategies, and support aggressive production timelines.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement:

Maintain alignment with

ASME Y14.5

(GD&T) and

ISO 17025

principles while driving ongoing improvements in measurement efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate or Technical Degree preferred)

3-5+ years of total experience in metrology, calibration, or precision measurement.

Must-Have:

2-3+ years of direct, hands-on experience using Laser Trackers.

Must-Have:

2-3+ years of direct experience using Spatial Analyzer (SA) software.

Strong proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, and applying GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5).

Background in aerospace or satellite manufacturing, with explicit experience in large-structure alignment.

Familiarity with PC-DMIS and

ISO 17025

standards.

Physical ability to stand, bend, work in tight/confined spaces around large equipment, and lift up to 40 lbs.
