BEERTENDER
Beertender Job Description Beertenders are the face of the company. As a Beertender here at Thistle Draftshop, we encourage you to interact with guests and make them "feel at home". Educate our guests about our culture, products and events. Thistle Draftshop serves the best craft beer available paired with upscale gastro-pub cuisine, and now craft coffee. We build trust in the community, serve and educate beer enthusiasts and curious about the artistic value of craft beers and the fine arts of the craft brewing industry, craft food and coffee. Beertender Duties Beginning of Shift Refer to daily check list
  • Set up cash drawers by counting and setting till in POS system
  • Stock bar and condiment area with plates, napkins, utensils, appropriate condiments and water
  • Stock glasses, coasters, napkins (fold napkins when necessary)
  • Check all counters and floors for clean presentation
  • Check restrooms - Stock toilet paper and tri fold towels, refill soaps, empty full trash cans, ensure toilets are clean
  • Turn on lights and open sign
  • Organize and face all inventory in coolers
  • Familiarize yourself with new beers on tap Beertender Duties During Hours of Operation
  • Engage with guests, help them "feel at home"
  • Answer questions and educate guests about Thistle Draftshop, our beers, food, coffee and events
  • Educate guests on how to sample beer. (Color, Clarity, carbonation, head retention, aroma, mouthfeel/body, flavors, finish)
  • Complete checklists and other paperwork involved to day-to-day operations
  • Ensure the bar and bar area, counters, sinks, utensils, coolers, shelving and storage areas are clean and comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards at all times.
  • Report all equipment problems, bar maintenance issues, violations or substandard practices to managers immediately upon encountering a problem.
  • Minimize waste by ensuring all sales go through POS system properly and the draft system are operating optimally
  • Collect payment resources for all sales upon first order (swipe cards)
  • Ensure your TABC Certificate is up to date and follow alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and dealing with intoxicated guests.
  • Stay informed of policies and procedures and current developments in local, state, and federal laws applicable to the service of alcohol, safe food handling, health standards.
  • Monitor stations and restock napkins, utensils and condiments
  • Wash and restock glassware
  • Pre-Bus Bar area of dirty plates/glasses. Ensure all surface areas (tables/bar) are clean and sanitized and free of all debris
  • Spot sweep floors if necessary
BEERTENDER
  • Check lounge area and clean surfaces/spot sweep/mop if necessary
  • Ensure all glass doors (package cooler/front doors) are clean at all times
  • Organize and face all inventory in coolers
  • You are encouraged to check on guest tables, refill drink orders and food orders Beertender Duties After Closing Refer to daily check list
  • Enter tips from sales
  • Count cash and complete closing procedure for POS system
  • Wipe down tables, bar tops, sanitize taps and drains. Spray taps with sanitizing spray and close taps with faucet caps/brushes
  • Wipe down menus
  • Empty trash
  • Clean and polish glassware
  • Organize and face all inventory in coolers
  • Assist in sweeping/mopping
  • Restock napkins, utensils and condiments
  • Turn off operating lights, leave overhead lights on for overnight
  • Make sure AC/Heating thermostat is NOT ON HOLD and is set for proper temperature
  • Lock all doors, including roll ups.
Ensure building is secure before leaving
