About the Role As a Quality Assurance Welding Specialist, you will serve as a critical guardian of structural integrity, ensuring that all fabricated steel components meet rigorous safety and industry standards. By leveraging your expertise in non-destructive testing and weld evaluation, you will directly influence the quality and reliability of load-bearing infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive visual inspections on a majority of finished structural steel components to guarantee compliance prior to distribution. Evaluate structural
MIG/GMAW
welds with a specific focus on achieving Complete Joint Penetration (CJP) standards. Execute and document advanced NDT procedures, including Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle (MT) inspections, for seismic-critical assemblies. Analyze complex engineering blueprints, fabrication schematics, and shop drawings to ensure precise adherence to design specifications. Collaborate with production teams and welding personnel to identify defects, provide technical guidance, and facilitate immediate quality improvements. Maintain detailed inspection records to verify that all work aligns with established Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and quality protocols. Qualifications Required Skills Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential. Extensive professional experience in the inspection of structural steel welding. Proven proficiency in evaluating structural
MIG/GMAW
welding processes. Advanced ability to interpret technical blueprints, weld symbols, and complex engineering drawings. Preferred Skills Prior experience in a high-volume structural fabrication environment. Familiarity with seismic code requirements and load-bearing structural standards. Strong communication skills for effective cross-departmental quality coaching.
