$18-$22 per hour as a trainee, moving to $22 per hour as QC Tech I, plus overtime and bonuses About the Role Byford Machine-Tool is a precision CNC machine shop serving demanding industries and producing tight-tolerance machined components. We are looking for a Quality Control Technician I with hands-on inspection experience who takes pride in accuracy, documentation, and helping ensure every part leaving our shop meets print and customer requirements. This is a key role that works closely with machinists and leadership to maintain our quality standards and support a busy, production-focused environment. Key Responsibilities Inspect machined parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other precision measurement tools. Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to verify parts meet dimensional and visual requirements. Read and interpret engineering drawings and basic GD&T callouts to confirm parts are within tolerance. Accurately record inspection results, maintain inspection reports, and flag nonconforming parts. Communicate quality issues clearly and promptly to machinists, leads, and supervisors. Help maintain calibration, care, and proper storage of measuring tools and gauges. Follow work instructions, quality procedures, and safety/housekeeping standards to keep a clean, organized inspection and shop environment. What We're Looking For 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or machining environment performing dimensional inspection (CNC shop experience strongly preferred). Proven ability to use calipers, micrometers, and common gauges with confidence and consistency. Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and apply tolerances to real parts. Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and a mindset focused on catching issues early. Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment and partnering closely with operators. Reliable attendance and willingness to work the required 50 hours per week (built-in overtime). Strong dependability and punctuality; good attendance is required to succeed in this role. Pay, Schedule, and Growth Starting trainee pay: $18-$22 per hour, based on experience and capability.
Standard QC Tech I pay:
$22 per hour once fully trained and demonstrating consistent performance. Overtime pay/bonus pay for hours worked over 40 per week. Performance-based bonuses.
