Role Summary and Strategic Impact The Carbon Floor Quality Control Inspector provides direct inspection support to production and helps ensure the product is being built, inspected, and released in accordance with job-specific requirements, drawings, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards. Core Responsibilities I. Inspection & Quality Verification Support carbon shop inspection activities throughout fabrication processes to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, procedures, and company quality standards. Perform incoming material checks to verify material identification, condition, traceability, and compliance with project and purchase requirements. Conduct fabrication, fit-up, dimensional, and visual inspections on carbon steel piping assemblies and components to verify workmanship and conformance throughout the build process. Support weld inspection and visual verification activities to ensure weld quality and compliance with approved procedures and applicable standards. Perform coating, paint, or surface protection checks, as required, to verify compliance with project specifications and preservation requirements. Support final inspection activities prior to release or shipment to ensure fabrication requirements and customer expectations have been met. II. Quality Monitoring & Production Support Support production personnel with quality checks and inspection activities throughout the fabrication process to promote quality workmanship and reduce rework. Monitor fabrication activities to identify potential quality concerns early and help maintain compliance with customer and company requirements. Work closely with shop personnel, welders, and supervisors to communicate inspection findings and provide guidance on quality expectations. Assist in maintaining material traceability, inspection hold points, and verification requirements throughout fabrication operations. Support job-specific and customer-specific quality requirements to ensure all fabrication activities meet contractual and project expectations. III. Nonconformance Identification & Reporting Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming conditions, defects, or discrepancies observed during inspection activities. Escalate quality concerns, recurring issues, or significant nonconformances to the Quality Control Manager/Lead for review and disposition. Support containment activities and verification of corrective actions related to fabrication or material quality issues. Assist with investigation and documentation of quality-related issues to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts. IV. Documentation, Final Inspection & Shipment Verification Accurately document inspection results, measurements, and quality verification activities in accordance with company procedures and project requirements. Maintain inspection records, reports, and supporting quality documentation to ensure traceability and compliance with applicable standards. Verify final inspection status, required documentation, tagging, and shipment readiness prior to product release or delivery. Perform shipment verification checks to confirm completed assemblies, materials, preservation requirements, and customer deliverables are accurate and complete. Support customer inspections, audits, and quality reviews by providing documentation and inspection support as needed.
Required Qualifications and Competencies Experience:
2+ years of experience in quality control, fabrication inspection, or industrial/manufacturing environments, preferably within carbon piping, mechanical fabrication, or welding operations. Experience performing dimensional, fit-up, visual, and in-process inspections in a shop fabrication environment is strongly preferred.
Technical Proficiency:
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, isometrics, weld maps, specifications, and inspection requirements. Familiarity with inspection tools, measurement equipment, material traceability practices, and quality documentation processes related to carbon pipe fabrication.
Industry Knowledge:
Working knowledge of fabrication, welding, piping systems, and quality control practices within mechanical contracting or industrial manufacturing environments. Familiarity with applicable industry standards, workmanship expectations, and shop quality procedures related to stainless steel fabrication and inspection activities.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework related to welding, fabrication, quality control, or industrial technology is preferred. Relevant certifications or inspection training are considered a plus.

Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work collaboratively with production personnel in a fast-paced fabrication environment while maintaining high quality standards.
