We are seeking a Quality Control Inspector to uphold our rigorous quality standards and contribute to the success of our production operations.
Job Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector / Field Surveyor will support all aspects of quality control and field surveying for structural steel erection projects. This individual will be responsible for operating Total Station equipment to perform field layout, field verification surveys, and post-installation surveys, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the erection process. The role also requires serving as the Onsite Quality Control Inspector on designated projects, monitoring work activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, AISC standards, and the company's Quality Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Survey & Layout 1) Operate Total Station equipment to perform: Anchor bolt and foundation verification Structural steel layout and field checks As-built and post-installation surveys 2) Interpret structural and erection drawings to verify dimensional accuracy. 3) Coordinate survey data with Project Management and Field Operations. Onsite Quality Control (QCI Duties) 1) Perform receipt, in-process, and final inspections of erected structural steel. 2) Verify compliance with erection drawings, specifications, and industry standards. 3) Monitor and document: Bolt installation and pretensioning Welding operations and welder certifications Member alignment, plumbness, and fit-up Maintain weld maps, bolt maps, and daily QC reports. Coordinate inspections with General Contractors and third-party inspectors. Document deficiencies and oversee corrective actions. Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, erection, surveying, or quality control. Experience with field checking and surveying equipment. Strong ability to read and interpret structural and erection drawings. Knowledge of industry standards, bolting procedures, and welding inspection practices are preferred (AWS, AISC, ASTM). Strong documentation and communication skills.
Shift:
6:00 AM - 2:00 PM Monday- Friday Depending on the workload, some Saturdays as well. Compensation & Benefits Company benefits program Company vehicle provided for field use.
