Job Description

Quality Control Inspector Employment Type:
Full-time (Travel Required) Join the Extreme Steel team! Extreme Steel, Inc. is a leader in structural steel fabrication and erection, known for delivering quality, precision, and reliable solutions to our clients. We are looking for an experienced Quality Control Inspector / Field Surveyor to support structural steel erection projects by performing field surveying, inspections, and quality control activities. What You'll Do Operate Total Station equipment to perform anchor bolt and foundation verification, structural steel layout, field checks, and as-built/post-installation surveys. Perform field verification to ensure accuracy and compliance throughout the structural steel erection process. Interpret structural and erection drawings to verify dimensions, installation requirements, and overall accuracy. Coordinate survey data with Project Management and Field Operations. Perform receipt, in-process, and final inspections of erected structural steel. Verify compliance with erection drawings, specifications, contract documents, AISC standards, and company quality procedures. Monitor and document bolt installation, pretensioning, welding operations, welder certifications, member alignment, plumbness, and fit-up. Maintain weld maps, bolt maps, and daily QC reports. Coordinate inspections with General Contractors and third-party inspectors. Document deficiencies and oversee corrective actions to ensure quality standards are met. Exercise stop-work authority when quality requirements are not being followed. Requirements 3-5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, erection, surveying, or quality control. Experience with field checking and surveying equipment, including Total Station preferred. Ability to read and interpret structural and erection drawings. Knowledge of structural steel inspection practices, bolting procedures, and welding inspection standards. Familiarity with AWS, AISC, and ASTM standards preferred. Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and support field operations at project sites.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Some Saturdays may be required depending on workload)
