Based on Experience Company Overview Founded in 2008, American Custom Metal Fabricating operates in the metal fabricating and manufacturing industry, with a focus on delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service. We are looking for a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join our growing team and help ensure our products consistently meet customer and company quality standards. Job Summary The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring the internal quality of manufactured goods through inspection of products including sheet metal, structural weldments, machine shop parts, and painted items. This position ensures products conform to specifications, quality standards, dimensional requirements, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to identify quality issues while working effectively with Team Leaders, Management, and production personnel to resolve problems. Essential Job Functions Interpret and work from fairly complicated sketches, drawings, blueprints, routings, product specifications, and quality requirements to determine dimensions and tolerance specifications. Perform visual and dimensional inspections of finished products. Examine products from fabrication, machining, and paint departments for defects or nonconformities. Identify, analyze, and reject defective parts when necessary. Identify the type and location of defects on parts, containers of parts, or inspection tags. Accurately complete all required inspection and quality documentation. Communicate and work with Team Leaders and Management regarding quality issues and concerns. Ensure materials used in production meet specified requirements. Follow up on purchase orders and required material certifications, including Material Test Reports (MTRs). Use precision measuring equipment to verify product dimensions and tolerances. Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail throughout the inspection process. Assist in identifying opportunities to improve product quality and reduce defects. Follow all company safety, quality, and operating procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical degree or related technical education preferred. 1+ years of Quality Control experience preferred. Experience in a metal fabrication, machining, welding, or manufacturing environment preferred. Ability to accurately use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and tape measures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, routings, and specifications. Excellent judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Work Environment This position works in a manufacturing environment and may require regular movement throughout the production floor. The Quality Control Technician must be comfortable working around manufacturing equipment, welding operations, machining processes, and other industrial activities while following all required safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
