Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector will perform precise dimensional inspections in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment, focusing on tight tolerances down to 0.6. This role operates and runs coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and other advanced inspection equipment, performs gauge calibration for production jobs, and supports consistent, high-quality output across a large volume of parts each month. Responsibilities Operate and run coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to inspect high-volume production parts with tight tolerances down to 0.6. Check and verify parts using CMMs, OGP systems, and optical inspection equipment to ensure they meet required specifications. Perform gauge calibration for the jobs being run on the production floor, ensuring all gauges are accurate and ready for use. Conduct detailed quality inspections on parts and assemblies, following established procedures and quality standards. Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to determine inspection requirements and acceptance criteria. Support Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities by performing inspections and documenting results as needed. Accurately record inspection data, calibration results, and quality findings in accordance with internal quality systems. Identify nonconforming parts and communicate findings clearly to appropriate team members for corrective action. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the gauge lab and on the production floor. Collaborate with team members and leadership to continuously improve inspection methods, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. Essential Skills At least 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing or similar environment. At least 1 year of experience performing gauge calibration. Hands-on experience with quality inspection processes and techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Familiarity with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) requirements and documentation. Experience using inspection tools and equipment such as CMMs, OGP systems, and optical inspection devices. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with tight tolerances. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a Quality Technician or in a similar quality-focused role. Comfort working with advanced metrology and gauge lab equipment. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Interest in professional growth and developing a long-term career in quality and metrology. Work Environment The role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment that produces approximately 45,000 pieces per month with very tight tolerances. Multiple openings are available on off-shifts and split shifts, including 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The facility features a newly acquired, state-of-the-art $2 million gauge lab equipped with a micro CMM capable of 0.6 tolerance, two Zeiss CMMs with 1.6 capabilities, OGP systems, and approximately ten optical inspection units.
