Job Description

Summary:
The Quality Process Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the production of high-quality plastic products by monitoring and maintaining manufacturing processes, conducting inspections, and implementing quality control procedures. This position supports the company's commitment to delivering products that meet customer expectations, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and oversee the manufacturing process of plastic products, from raw material intake through final packaging, to ensure quality standards are met. Perform routine checks on equipment and machinery to identify and address issues that may impact product quality. Collaborate with production personnel to set up, adjust, and optimize equipment to meet product specifications. Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, deviations, and inconsistencies; initiate corrective actions as needed. Operate testing equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to verify product dimensions and properties. Collect and analyze process and product data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement; provide recommendations. Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions related to quality processes. Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations, including ISO, SQF, and other certifications. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities to prevent recurrence of quality issues. Document inspection results, test data, and deviations, maintaining accurate and organized records. Assist with training production personnel on quality procedures and promote best practices and quality awareness when needed. Participate in cross-functional teams for process improvements and new product development. Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming materials or products; coordinate disposition with appropriate personnel. Ensure measuring and testing equipment is calibrated, maintained, and properly used. Perform moisture testing on raw materials (as applicable). Conduct GSM checks to verify materials meet specifications. Ensure no foreign material contamination in work-in-progress (WIP) or finished products. Verify customer specifications are met throughout the manufacturing process. Conduct suspect audits at various stages of production (e.g., extrusion, thermoforming, padding). Verify line clearance completion and first article approval prior to production. Enforce GMP and SQF requirements, including: Preventing product contact with the floor Eliminating temporary fixes that could cause contamination Prohibiting jewelry in production areas Provide coverage for other Quality Process Technicians during absences, as required.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in plastics technology, manufacturing, or quality assurance preferred. Experience in plastics manufacturing with knowledge of injection molding, extrusion, or similar processes.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) and familiarity with quality systems such as ISO and/or SQF standards. Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and reporting.
Core Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and drive improvements. High attention to detail with the ability to detect minor defects.
Communication & Teamwork:
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Work Flexibility:
Ability to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required.
