Job Description

Sewing Machine Operator Purpose The purpose of the Sewing Machine Operator is to sew materials to produce or repair parachutes and other associated articles within acceptable quality and efficiency requirements. Position Summary The Sewing Machine Operator works with minimal supervision sewing parachutes and associated components according to BRS quality and efficiency requirements.
Reports to:
Production manager and/or supervisor Accountabilities The Sewing Machine Operator is accountable for performing his/her own work accurately and efficiently according to instructions. Responsibilities Follow instructions and perform operations as trained. Follow company policies as written in the Employee Manual. Meet company expectations for quality and efficiency. Knowledge, skills, competencies Sewing skills Good vision and hand-eye coordination Ability to concentrate on fine details and repetitious tasks for long periods Ability to work alone as well as in a team An awareness of safe operating procedures Basic measuring and calculating skills and/or pattern reading skills Good communication skills required Ability to use specification sheets, drawings, work instructions Detail oriented and able to maintain high accuracy standards Education and experience: Previous sewing experience (home or work-based) is a plus. High School graduate or GED preferred.
