Job Description

Company:
Sergery Design Studio Location:
Homestead, PA (In-Studio)
Position Type:
Part-Time (10-20 hours per week) About Sergery Design Studio Sergery Design Studio is a specialized cut-and-sew house dedicated to a future of sustainable fashion. We design and manufacture ecologically conscious athletic wear and swimwear using salvaged and upcycled fabrics. As a multi-brand startup incubator, we focus on contour wear —including dance, yoga, athleisure, swimwear, underwear and loungewear. We pride ourselves on turning technical and salvage fabrics into beautiful, wearable pieces that are functional and lovable! The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Production Sewist to join our Homestead team. You will be responsible for bringing our unique designs to life, working primarily with stretch performance fabrics and salvaged textiles. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced startup environment where quality and sustainability are our top priorities.
Key Responsibilities Precision Sewing:
Assemble high-quality contour garments (leggings, shorts, bodysuits, swimwear, dancewear) based on specific patterns.
Industrial Machine Operation:
Utilize industrial sergers, coverstitch machines, and single needle machines.
Quality Control:
Ensure all finished pieces meet our standards for durability, stretch-recovery, and aesthetic finish.
Material Stewardship:
Handle salvaged and upcycled fabrics with care to minimize waste in the cutting and sewing process.
Requirements Pattern Literacy:
Ability to read and follow technical sewing patterns and construction notes.
Technical Skill:
Prior experience with industrial sewing machines is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with strong sewing experience and a good mechanical aptitude.
Fabric Knowledge:
Comfort working with 4-way stretch fabrics and delicate salvage materials and supplies.
Mindset:
A passion for ecological fashion, upcycling, and the "slow fashion" movement.
Reliability:
Ability to work a consistent schedule of 10-20 hours per week at our Homestead studio.
Professionalism:
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and time frames, while contributing to an environment that is both positive and productive!
Creativity:
We are a startup and looking for someone who wants to contribute to the overall mission and success of our brands.
Compensation Salary:
Please include your hourly salary requirements in your application.
Growth:
Opportunity to grow with a rising startup and gain experience in the niche world of upcycled athletic and loungewear apparel. How to Apply Please send your resume and a brief introduction (or portfolio/photos of your work) to jobs@sergerydesignstudio.com . Please specify your availability and your hourly rate requirements.
