Albany, CA Job Details Full-time $52 - $62 an hour 5 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description NVE is hiring for a skilled Boiler Operator professional responsible for starting, monitoring, maintaining, and repairing industrial or commercial boiler systems. The position ensures high-pressure and low-pressure steam and hot water systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with strict city, state, or government regulations. Start, regulate, and shut down boilers and auxiliary equipment (like deaerators, feedwater, blowdown, and economizers). Adjust valves to control water, air, and fuel intake. Read and record gauges, meters, and computerized controls to monitor temperature, pressure, and water levels. Uses electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls as applicable, and zone charts in conjunction with meters, gauges, and computer-generated data to determine adjustments or corrections necessary for proper boiler operations or changing load requirements. Uses the proper tools for boiler and associated equipment maintenance, including the instrumentation. Performs preventative and scheduled maintenance on plant systems and equipment including boiler feed pumps, fuel oil pumps, air compressors, deaerators, feedwater, boiler fixtures, and combustion fans. Starts up any boiler and bring it to the state where it can take its share of the load. Execute proper boiler blow down procedures and the proper soot blowing procedures if applicable. Perform routine maintenance like lubricating moving parts, cleaning soot, and replacing worn components (valves, gaskets, and filters) Test boiler water quality and chemical balance. Maintain and adjust chemical treatments to prevent corrosion, rust, and scale buildup Conduct regular safety inspections, and ensure full compliance with state and federal safety guidelines Qualifications/Education High school diploma and, Trade school/technical college certification, apprenticeship /or long-term training on the job for boiler operators and, Meet the requirements of California Title 8 Regulations All candidates must be able to: Requires moderate to strenuous effort and long periods of walking, standing, climbing, bending, and crouching Ability to frequently lift and carry boiler parts and chemical supplies weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
