Join our team located in the heart of downtown San Francisco! Luxury living, Van Ness Properties, is seeking an experienced Stationary Engineer to provide ongoing building and resident maintenance with respected team members. This is a critical position that provides residents with reliability and service. This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance technician to expand their knowledge to learn the specifics of a high-rise environment. Basic responsibilities include but are not limited to: Responsible for responding to direct work orders as issued by Assistant Chief Building Engineer. Performing general maintenance and routine upkeep of the property, buildings and interior units, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances (including washer/dryer, garbage disposal and oven/stove), and countertop replacement. Monitor and report the need for purchase, care, maintenance and inventory of all maintenance supplies, tools and equipment. Work alongside outside contractors to monitor repairs and ensure property safety. Prioritize scheduling and completing service request for the apartment in a timely manner. Maintain the safety of residents by regularly inspecting common areas such as weight room equipment, hot tub, site lighting, fire extinguishers and fire prevention systems. Responsible for establishing and carrying out the community preventative maintenance program. Ability to perform not only general maintenance but the work of painter, (as applicable). Responsible for reporting unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the property or residents. Be aware of and operate within OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards and company safety policies at all times.
The Ideal Candidate will possess:
Superb customer service and pleasant demeanor to interact with all residents. Ability to handle shifting priorities and manage successful completion of tasks in a timely fashion. General desire to learn more about high rise building maintenance to grow from within. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-5 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, vendor estimates and contracts, and procedure manuals in English. Excellent Communication and customer service skills. Applicants must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background check. Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT) is helpful but not required. Supervisory, OSHA, safety training helpful. Universal EPA Section 608 Certification would be nice to have but not required. Education and/or Experience 2+ years' experience with building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds Able to communicate verbally and read/write
English Physical Requirements:
Extensive mobility required. Must be able to perform the physical functions of the position, which may include, but are not limited to: ability to walk property, including 4 flights of stairs, to complete physical inspections, deliver resident communications, and show apartments. Significant Typing and computer use required.
