Summary Stationary Engineer performs a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of boilers, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems normally found in a county hospital, institution, large office building or complex of buildings; may instructor lead other engineers; may instructor lead resident workers; and do other related work. Responsibilities Follow oral and written directions. Demonstrates mechanical ability. Keep accurate records. Install, operate, and make repairs to the various types of equipment listed at the plants. Make written reports, read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings and specifications. Lay out work for others and direct them in this work. Analyze situation accurately and take effective actions. Maintain and adjust temperatures for the different buildings keeping comfortable temperatures. Possess, initiative, dependability, good judgment, ability to work cooperatively with others. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned. Experience Generally, requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Education High School diploma is required. Skill Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Credentials Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
