Position Overview The Stationary Engineer position operates, monitors, and maintains power plant equipment and mechanical systems at Big Muddy River Correctional Center. This individual will also make scheduled and unscheduled inspections of all equipment at regular intervals, prepare daily records and logs, and perform routine testing, treatment, and monitoring of water used for consumption and utility generation systems. In addition, they will support preventative maintenance execution and planning. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply. Essential Functions Maintains and operates equipment in the physical plant. Monitors building automation system with portable operator terminal checking proper operation of damper actuators, valves, motors, fans, sensors, and computer control equipment. Makes rounds of mechanical rooms at regular intervals. Makes and records tests of water used for domestic consumption or generating system. Directs tradesman, residents, and semi-skilled workers engaged in repair and necessary work. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of those duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school. Requires four (4) years of experience in power plant operation and in firing high pressure and/or low-pressure stationary boilers. Preferred Qualifications Prefers at least five (5) years of work experience maintaining and operating power plant equipment including boilers, furnaces, and auxiliary equipment. Prefers at least five (5) years of work experience installing power plant equipment including boilers, furnaces, and auxiliary equipment. Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience monitoring automation systems. Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience observing and adjusting HVAC equipment as necessary. Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience testing and recording testing of water systems. Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience using purifying or water softening chemicals. Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience directing others. Prefers completion of current OSHA 10 training. Conditions of Employment Requires ability to pass theIDOC/IDJJ

Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department. This position requires the ability to work at heights, including on ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, or elevated platforms, while adhering to all safety regulations and using appropriate fall protection measures.
