Rotating Schedule Pay Range:
$34.68 - $43.86 per hour
Position Summary:
A leading food manufacturing facility is seeking a Boiler Operator / Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of boiler, refrigeration, and utility systems. This is primarily a day-shift floater position, though occasional night shift coverage may be required for vacations or staffing needs. Reporting to the Boiler Chief, this position is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting plant utility equipment while supporting production, safety, and maintenance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain boiler, refrigeration, and utility systems. Follow all plant safety procedures, operating practices, and regulatory requirements. Participate in emergency response activities, including response to chemical or ammonia incidents. Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and vendors to resolve equipment issues. Perform preventive maintenance and complete work orders through SAP. Operate and maintain boilers, pumps, compressors, condensers, electrical systems, and related equipment. Conduct routine boiler water testing and analysis. Monitor steam production, compressed air systems, and refrigeration operations. Read and interpret equipment drawings, schematics, and operating manuals. Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records. Participate in safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with departmental projects and train new employees as needed. Support food safety, product quality, and sanitation standards. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of industrial utility systems maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with electrical systems, welding, and pneumatics is beneficial. Food manufacturing experience preferred.
Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and operating instructions.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, operating manuals, and maintenance procedures. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Basic mathematical skills including measurements, ratios, percentages, and calculations.
Licenses & Certifications Required:
Minnesota 1B Boiler License or higher Boiler, HVAC, and HAZMAT training Ability to obtain
HAZWOPER
certification
Preferred:
Electrical license Two-year degree in Electrical, HVAC, Ammonia Refrigeration, or Building Maintenance Additional Skills Ability to read, write, and speak English SAP experience preferred Forklift experience preferred Microsoft Office proficiency preferred
