Job Description

Description Weyerhaeuser Company is accepting applications for a Kiln Tender position at our Lumber facility in Magnolia, MS. Weyerhaeuser offers stable employment, excellent pay and benefits, and a chance to grow a career. We are seeking individuals who are committed to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and a desire to work in a manufacturing facility. This position will be responsible for operating our dry kilns. The successful candidate will participate in an extensive training program to learn how to safely operate the dry kilns used in our lumber drying process. We have opportunities available on both 1st and 2nd shifts—please indicate your preference. During the training period, the pay rate is $19.94 per hour. Upon successful completion of the training period the pay is increased to $22.14 per hour, with potential to $24.04.
Key Functions:
Total commitment to working safely and following all safety rules and regulations Responsible for safely operating the dry kilns and conducting housekeeping activities in each assigned area Moving loaded kiln cars into and out of the dry kilns Monitoring the computer control system used in operating the kilns to dry lumber to tight specifications Perform minor maintenance and repairs to the dry kilns Interpreting work instructions adequately and successfully completing tasks as assigned Must demonstrate willingness and ability to learn new jobs and skills Communicating with team members and leadership to improve safety and operating performance as well as meet job expectations Qualifications All applicants must have a high school diploma or GED Applicants must attach a resume detailing education and work history Steady, documented work history Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship Able to perform basic math and basic computer skills Good communication skills Must be team oriented Willingness to work any shift, including weekends and holidays Willingness and ability to wear all required personal protective equipment Ability to work in extreme heat, humidity and cold Ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes climbing stairs, navigating catwalks, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, and bending Willingness and ability to learn new jobs and skills Experience operating forklift or other mobile equipment strongly preferred About Wood Products We've been delivering quality building products and solutions to our customers for more than 100 years.
