Job Summary The Die Shop Optimization Specialist supports the coordination, documentation, and continuous improvement of die shop repairs. This role ensures die corrections, dimensional verification, and die nose and samples are properly documented, tracked, and communicated across departments. The position serves as a link between the Die Shop, Production, Process Engineering, Die Engineering, and Quality teams. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Document all die corrections, modifications, and changes to maintain accurate die history. Enter die correction data and die history into EPICS to maintain accurate records and traceability. Maintain organized records of die nose and samples, dimensional measurements, and correction notes. Maintain organization of die samples, prints, and documentation Coordinate dimensional layouts on engineering prints to document die adjustments and corrections. Ensure die samples and reports are properly labeled, stored, and traceable. Facilitate communication between the Die Shop, Process Engineer, Die Engineering, and Quality when issues require escalation. Coordinate dies sent to external vendors for repair or modification and track the progress of rework. Manage the check-in and documentation of dies returning from vendors, verifying work completed and updating records. Machine die backers from raw material using CNC or milling equipment as required Monitor die performance trends and assist with documenting root causes and improvements. Track inventory levels of basic die shop supplies and coordinate repurchases to ensure materials are available for daily operations. Promote clear communication and accountability to ensure die corrections and process changes implemented. Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience required. Experience in extrusion die shops, machining, or manufacturing environments preferred. Experience operating milling or CNC equipment preferred. Ability to read engineering drawings and dimensionsASTM B221.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with ERP systems such as EPICS preferred. Bilingual Ability to communicate effectively with production, engineering, vendors, and quality teams in person and via e-mail. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move within the die shop for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when handling die components or materials. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with machining and extrusion equipment. This represents the employer's good faith estimate of the base pay range at the time of posting.
