Job Description

Job Overview Setup and produce product development models, model room tooling, test fixtures, 3D rapid prototype models, CNC programming, etc. Maintain the performance, safety, and accuracy of all shop equipment. Assist design engineers as needed with design and construction evaluations regarding improvements and manufacture-ability.

A Day In The Life
  • Program, setup, and run the various machines in the model shop including CNC milling machine and wire EDM utilizing Computer Aided Machining (CAM) 
  • Setup, and run the various 3D prototype machines to produce models as needed for both internal and intercompany requests.
  • Maintain 3D printing machines and inventory of consumable printing materials and support items.
  • Design, build & repair tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, and models for the engineering department and test lab and as required for AME and Quality and Marketing.
  • Maintenance, repair, calibration of all equipment.
  • Assist in the design, purchase, and specification of new and replacement equipment.
  • Provide general maintenance services for the model shop and test lab. Provide limited facilities and maintenance services as requested.
  • Understand and implement applicable company, and regulatory body safety procedures.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks to be assigned as needed based on organizational and company needs.
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Trade School certification with 3-5 years in a prototype, model shop or similar environment i.
e. tool die making. Set up and operation of all machine shop equipment including wire
EDM, CNC
machine centers, presses, grinders, forming tools, and knowledge of fabrication methods.
  • A working knowledge of CNC programming and set up, Computer Aided Machining programs and experience in the 3d rapid prototyping processes. Gibbs cam experience would be a plus.
  • Familiar with environmental and safety requirements as they would apply to the model shop and test lab.
  • Must be innovative and resourceful and have the ability to quickly analyze and solve problems, handle multiple priorities, and have good people and communication skills.
