Job Description
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the President and Vice President, designs and builds molds, dies, and related tooling; performs troubleshooting, repair, and modification work; and operates complex machinery to support production. Duties and Responsibilities- Interpret and utilize sketches, blueprints, specifications, plans, and models to strategically plan operations for the fabrication of molds, dies, tools, and assemblies.
- Operate advanced machinery, including CNC machines, lathes, grinders, and drill presses.
- Program CNC machines with CAD software, familiarity with Spaceclaim and Smartcam software preferred.
- Utilize 3D printing technology for prototype development.
- Change molds as needed for production
- Keep inventory of parts, spare parts for all molds as well as a record of procedures and directions for all mold changes
- Accurately verify the dimensions of finished parts, ensuring conformance to specifications using precise measuring instruments such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers, and micrometers.
- Skillfully use hand and machine tools to assemble tool and die components, as well as to repair and modify gauges, jigs, and dies.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with molds, dies, and tools, performing necessary repairs to maintain optimal functionality.
- Design templates and jigs to serve as work aids, facilitating the efficient fabrication of products and components.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, including but not limited to the Tool Room employees, President, Vice President, Quality Control, and Mold Technicians, to resolve issues during the production process.
- Document repairs and promptly notify the President or Vice President.
- Adhere strictly to Quality Control's directives regarding the continuation or cessation of machine operations during production issues.
- Implement Lockout/Tagout procedures when conducting maintenance on machines and molds.
- Safely operate a forklift (with certification) and other equipment; use mold lifts to transport molds.
- Maintain tools in good condition, ensuring they are returned to their designated locations. Keep workstations clean and organized, and promptly clean up any debris or spills.
- Maintain productivity by completing projects efficiently and within designated timeframes.
- Commit to plant safety by following all safety and company policies. Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) as designated by the company, which may include safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and respiratory protection where applicable. Seek assistance when lifting heavy items and use dollies for transporting products between locations.
- Uphold the company's commitment to producing superior quality products.
- Ability to recommend or initiate orders for parts and tools in accordance with company procedures.
Position classification:
- Hourly, non-exempt (overtime eligible in accordance with applicable law and company policy).
Required Skills and abilities:
- Communicatewell with fellow team members (Critical).
- Strong attention to detail in documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency of Microsoft office products.
Preferred Experience:
- 5 years of tool and die making experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods within a manufacturing facility.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, reach, and turn while performing equipment maintenance or mold changes.
- Ability to visually inspect equipment, materials, and finished products for quality and safety concerns.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, dust, oils, and other industrial conditions.
Pay:
$25.55- $30.
