Job Title:
Tooling Technician Job Description The ideal candidate will have experience in basic to intermediate fabrication and be comfortable working with various metals and composite materials. You will be responsible for constructing, modifying, and maintaining custom tooling using a variety of shop equipment, while adhering to high standards of quality and safety. Responsibilities Utilize shop tools including band saws, grinders, drills, and sanders for tool fabrication and finishing. Work with various metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Apply skills and techniques commonly used in auto body or marine body repair work. Work with resins and composite materials. Read and interpret detailed job instructions, technical documents, and shop drawings with minimal supervision. Accurately use measuring tools including tape measures and calipers. Mix and handle materials according to specified ratios and procedures. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Adapt to changing project priorities and meet production deadlines. Perform welding operations if qualified. Essential Skills Experience with grinding, polishing, sanding, and deburring. Tool and die repair and metal finishing knowledge. Blueprint reading and interpretation. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and instructions. Strong basic math skills for precise measurements and calculations. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Basic to intermediate fabrication experience. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted. Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality. Willingness to learn and work both independently and as part of a team. Work Environment Join a strong employee culture within a state-of-the-art machining center that specializes in machining complex parts, tools, models, molds, and patterns in various materials including composite, plastic, foam, wood media, titanium, aluminum, and other metals. Our facility is equipped with 3-axis and 5-axis machines, allowing for the production of both small and large scale orders daily. Services available include precision CNC milling, part trimming and drilling, and rapid prototype development. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Canton, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
