Tool Room Machinist Position in Ames, IA Technical Services, Inc. (TSI) is actively hiring a Tool Room Machinist in Ames, IA. The Tool Room Machinist is responsible for manufacturing repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, fixtures, and machine components used in production operations. set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders. Candidates must be able to demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and orderliness in work assignments, while striving for perfection and showing professional concern for quality of work. Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders while maintaining tight tolerances (±.001 in lathes and mills, and ±.0005 with grinding equipment) Perform precision setups including leveling mill heads, squaring vises, and indicating parts (including 4 jaw chucks) Utilize tooling and attachments such as boring heads, angle heads, rotary tables, and 3 /4 jaw chucks Apply proper speeds and feeds for high-speed steel and carbide tooling Manufacture, repair, and maintain precision tools, dies, fixtures, and machine components from blueprints Operate manual and CNC equipment, troubleshoot issues, and support preventive maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent 3+ years' experience in a tool room environment Attitude that is willing to listen, learn, and work together with other team players Experience working in an
ISO 9001
