Your responsibilities Summary The Tooling Team Member reports to the Tooling Group Leader and is responsible for cross-functional roles in three areas including dies, coil inductors, and parts for the metallurgical lab. Major Areas of Responsibility Build and repair fixtures, tooling, and machine parts to required tolerances
Assembles components for welding or brazing using fixtures, clamps, and gauges as required
Verify conformance of part to specifications or blueprints using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dimensional scales
Provide product sample piece cuts to metallurgical lab
Replacement and repair of Forge tooling Specific Responsibilities of the Job Dies Operate CNC High Speed Milling machines to produce forge dies
Repair dies including rollers, main press, trimmer punches and blades, and calibration dies
Check for cracks, chips, wear, and caves on side walls of used dies
Grind out imperfections, remove wear, redo radii on edge impressions, ensure proper contours
Machine maintenance such as adjustment of plates, re-sharpening of blades, and spring and sleeve replacements
Work on refinement of new die cuts by removing tool marks
Burn in of embossments Coil Inductors Machine, form, braze, and assemble various materials required in the fabrication and repair of induction heat treat tooling
Fabricates component parts (including mandrels and fixtures for forming parts and including soldering of joints) assembles, and alters induction coils
Inspect heat treated cranks to ensure proper functioning of inductor Metallurgical Lab Responsible for cut-up of as-forged cranks
Utilize guide book for direction on crank parts to be cut; saw respective parts
Acid etch pieces of received steel
Ensure cut parts correspond with paperwork from Product Inspector
Handle machine maintenance of saw room as necessary Standards of Performance Ensure proper tolerances of tools
Sets up, programs, operates, and maintains machine tools and measuring devices to perform necessary operations, optimizes speeds and feeds as required.
Selects appropriate materials and methods
Reads and interprets blue prints Essential Functions Proficient in English Language
Walking in a manufacturing setting with multiple stairs and inclines
Ability to perform repetitive work
Ability to work independently as well as on a team Your profile Qualifications Education/Credentials/Certifications
Industrial Maintenance AAS or equivalent degree OR At least 5 years of experience in Tool and Die role
Length of Experience
Previous experience in tool making, maintenance, and manufacturing required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to operate lift truck and overhead bridge crane to transport and position material
Ability to maintain high standards in housekeeping and safety
Ability to adapt to new methods, processes, materials, and equipment
Understand material selection and design while working from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions
Ability to operate all types of machine tools, precision measuring devices, and hand tools in accomplishing the making of parts and tooling
Excellent verbal communication skills
Ability to retain knowledge of different steps and processes
Ability to follow both written and verbal instruction
Basic math ability including an understanding of algebra and trigonometry
Well versed in safety policies and procedures
CNC operating abilities
