Day Shift Company Overview A well-established precision manufacturing company in the Farmington Hills area is seeking a Tooling Rework Technician to support its tooling and production operations. This company specializes in advanced machinery, precision tooling, and high-quality manufacturing solutions used across demanding industrial applications. Position Summary The Tooling Rework Technician will be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, preparing, repairing, and reworking precision tooling components used in manufacturing operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with small parts, tooling, abrasives, and precision measurement equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment and be comfortable using basic inspection tools, following work instructions, and maintaining high quality standards. Key Responsibilities Inspect tooling components for wear, damage, defects, or dimensional issues. Clean, prepare, assemble, disassemble, and rework tooling as required. Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment. Perform visual and dimensional inspections to ensure tooling meets quality standards. Support tooling repair, rework, and preparation for production use. Follow written work instructions, drawings, and internal process requirements. Etch, label, package, and organize tooling components as needed. Maintain accurate documentation related to tooling condition, rework, and inventory. Work closely with tooling, quality, production, and engineering teams. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Required Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, tooling, machining, inspection, or mechanical assembly. Ability to use basic hand tools and shop equipment. Experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, or other precision measuring tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or inconsistencies. Ability to read and follow written work instructions. Comfortable working with small parts and precision components. Reliable, organized, and quality-focused. Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work in a manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with tooling rework, tooling preparation, or tooling repair. Experience with abrasives, honing tools, grinding tools, or precision tooling. OD/ID grinding, honing, lapping, or polishing experience. Experience in an industrial machinery, automotive, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environment. Basic blueprint reading experience. Familiarity with inventory control, part labeling, and documentation. Work Environment / Physical Demands This position is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, tooling, shop noise, and standard production conditions. The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling of tools or materials. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. while following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
