Variety Die & Stamping Co. is a superior manufacturer of precision stampings and assemblies located in Dexter, MI. In operation since 1954, Variety Die & Stamping Co. is an established domestic and global supplier for the automotive and lawn & garden industries. We have an immediate opening, on 1st and 2nd shift, for an experienced Die Setter , working with progressive dies. The ideal candidate will be quality driven, process oriented and attentive to detail.
Main Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Sets up dies from start to finish so they are production ready. Responsible for die change overs, providing quality department with first/last piece for approval, proper use and set up of load guard (tonnage monitor); Smart PAC system (programming, sensor verification). Starts machine and inspects work to verify conformance of die setup to specifications. Loading and unloading coils of steel and dies to the press. Inspects and measures machined work pieces to verify conformances to specifications. Examines finished work pieces to verify conformance with specifications according to operator inspection sheet, quality control plans and/or customer notes using instruments such as gauges. Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, welding symbols, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools. Possess mechanical aptitude required for assisting in tool replacements. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards. Basic understanding of computers and ability to perform computer functions as they pertain to the job. Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task. Supports other die setters and press operators.Required Skills:
- Having your own tools is helpful
- Mechanically inclined
- Must have 3-5 years of experience with progressive dies
- Ability to perform basic math functions
- Must be able to use all die-setter tools and measuring devices, including calipers and micrometers
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Hours may vary, but currently are: 1st Shift - 7:00 am to 4:30 pm 2nd Shift - 4:30 pm to 2:00 am
