Job Description

TOOL ROOM MACHINIST GENERAL SUMMARY
A Tool Room Machinist creates, repairs, and maintains high-precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds for manufacturing operations. They set up and operate manual and CNC machinery (lathes, mills, grinders) to fabricate components to strict tolerances, often reading complex blueprints and using CAD/CAM software. This role ensures production efficiency by minimizing downtime and maximizing tool accuracy.
Fabrication and Repair:
Produce, repair, and modify precision tools, dies, gauges, and fixtures for production machinery.
Machine Operation:
Set up and operate various, often manual, machines including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines.
Precision Measurement:
Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators) to ensure parts meet precise, tight tolerances.
Technical Interpretation:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD/CAM models.
Programming:
Program or edit CNC machinery using G-code or software like Mastercam.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on tooling and machinery.
Safety and Cleanliness:
Adhere to OSHA and company safety standards, ensuring a clean and safe tool room environment.
Experience:
Requiring 2-5+ years of experience in tool making, machining, or a related field.
Technical Expertise:
Strong proficiency in manual and CNC machining techniques.
Tooling Knowledge:
Understanding of die casting, plastics, or stamping tools.
Mathematical Aptitude:
Knowledge of mathematics used for calculations, such as trigonometry and geometry.
Physical Ability:
Ability to stand for long periods and lift materials (typically up to 35-50 lbs).
Pay:
$18.00 - $30.00 per hour
