Job Summary The Tool Room Technician in our diecast environment is a specialized technician responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting high-pressure die casting, molds, and related trimming tools. They operate in a machine shop environment, using manual and CNC equipment to ensure production tools are in good working condition, thereby minimizing downtime. Essential Functions Disassemble, clean, polish, and reassemble complex die casting molds Operate conventional tool room machinery such as lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders to fabricate or repair die components. Analyze tool failures, troubleshoot die issues and the production press (e.g., stuck castings, poor surface finish), and repair dies. Perform routine maintenance on die cast tooling, including cleaning, greasing, and checking for wear or cracks in cores and ejector pins Perform gate changes, drill water lines, and make minor repairs or modifications to dies to improve performance Inspect finished dies for conformance to specification, ensuring precision within tight tolerances Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Required High School Diploma or equivalent GED 2-5 years of experience in tool and die repair, preferably within a die casting or plastics molding environment Proficiency in manual machining (lathe, mill, grinder) is often preferred Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics Knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills. Proven experience in a tool room, machine shop, or similar manufacturing environment Preferred Technical school training or apprenticeship in machining Proficiency in reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)

1st Shift 4:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday -
Thursday Compensation:
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $21.56 to $28.74 per hour. The exact rate may depend on your skills, experience, reliability, and willingness to learn. A worker in this job will frequently (from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time): Reach by extending hands and arms Handle objects by seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hands Pick, pinch, or otherwise work primarily with fingers Have near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less Judge distances and spatial relationships (see objects three-dimensionally) The worker will occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time): Stoop by bending body downward and forward requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles Kneel by bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s) Crouch by bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine Perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touch Adjust vision to bring objects into sharp focus 100% employee owned, Kurt Die Casting is a division of Kurt Manufacturing and located near Minneapolis, MN. Employees at our die casting facility can gain experience in multiple areas of manufacturing including aluminum and zinc die casting, CNC machining, automation, and quality control. We have over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space with the capacity and capability to service a diverse set of customers and industries. Kurt Die Casting features 20 CNC machining centers and 15 die casting machines ranging in size from 500 to 1,200 tons.
