Role Summary:
The Toolmaker is responsible for performing mold repair, modifications, and preventative mold maintenance in order to support the efficient production of plastic molded parts. This position may also be responsible for creating and repairing miscellaneous fixtures used in the manufacturing process. The Toolmaker reports directly to the Director of Operations. Schedule/Status 1st
Shift:
7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday -
Friday Areas of Accountability:
Perform mold repair, mold modifications, and preventative maintenance for existing tooling. Set-up, adjust, and operate tool room equipment in order to perform precision machining. Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, mills, and surface grinders. Measure, examine, and test completed parts in order to ensure that company and customer quality standards are met and/or exceeded. Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshooting malfunctions. Review and interpret electronic and/or written blueprints. Maintain a clean and organized work area with an emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization. Adhere to all quality and safety standards. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 1 year experience in toolmaking and/or related experience. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Demonstrated understanding of safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Strong mechanical aptitude. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong math skills. Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two year degree and/or certificate in Machine Tool Technology, CNC Machine Operations, and/or related field. Previous experience with plastic injection molds is a plus.
