Job Description

This position will require a background check, drug test and physical. Hours for this position will be from 7:00AM-3:30PM Monday -Friday SUMMARY The Die Technician position is responsible for assisting in the setting up and maintaining of the extrusion dies used in processing. They will help keep an inventory of the necessary supplies required to fabricate both standard and special shape dies. They must be able to run a vertical knee mill and be trainable on both a wire EDM and CNC Milling Machine.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up standard extrusion dies as necessary to keep up with production Fabricate special shape dies as needed Keep a record of every die that is set up or fabricated Update the "Die Setup History" spreadsheet in Excel Assign plates to make sheets in an Access database Program, set up, and operate the EDM Update the EDM log sheet as needed Maintain an inventory of die related supplies Maintain the stock of standard die liners and parts Have the ability to create, read, and understand blueprints Interpret blueprints and determine appropriate sequence of machining steps Machine miscellaneous parts as need for plant repairs or improvements Perform preventive maintenance tasks and general repairs on die shop equipment Operate all equipment in a safe and professional manner Maintain a clean and non-cluttered work area Follow and support all company policies and procedures Consistently maintain and display a positive attitude Respond to area problems and job duties with a demonstration of self-initiative, good judgment, common sense and professional courtesy Complete required paperwork in a timely manner Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
: EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of different types of machine tools, hand tools, and power tools is required
  • Machining experience is required
  • Basic welding experience is preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals is required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence is required. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, with outside agencies and other employees is required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals is required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires working at night on 12 hour shifts and possible daytime hours as required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud in certain areas and require hearing protection.
