Tool and Die Machinist Job Description This role focuses on maintaining and repairing production tooling, changing dies on presses, and collaborating with machinists to build new tooling. You will operate and program CNC mills and lathes, work with surface grinders, and ensure tooling meets precise specifications to support efficient, high-quality production. Responsibilities Maintain and repair production tooling to ensure reliable and consistent operation. Change dies on presses safely and efficiently to support ongoing production schedules. Work closely with machinists to build, modify, and improve new tooling as needed. Set up, operate, and adjust CNC mills and CNC lathes to produce and repair tooling components. Operate surface grinders to achieve precise finishes and tight tolerances on tooling surfaces. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to produce accurate tooling and components. Use G-code programming to set up and run CNC machining operations. Essential Skills At least 3 years of hands-on tool and die experience. Proficiency operating CNC mills and CNC lathes. Experience operating surface grinders for precision tooling work. Strong machining skills, including mill and lathe operations. Experience with die repair and maintenance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with press tooling and die changeover procedures. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production needs. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled production environment designed for comfort and consistency. You will work either independently or alongside another team member, depending on the task or project. The standard schedule is 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The facility supports CNC machining, lathe work, and surface grinding, with appropriate tooling and equipment available. The overall environment emphasizes safety, organization, and a professional shop atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
