We are actively seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool and Die Maker with expertise in deep drawn metal stamping to join our dynamic manufacturing team. This role is critical to our operations, as you will be responsible for the design, fabrication, and maintenance of precision tools and dies utilized in the production of complex metal components. Your work will directly impact product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Utilize advanced CAD software to design and create tooling and dies tailored specifically for deep drawing applications, ensuring they meet stringent specifications and production requirements. You will fabricate components using various machining techniques, including milling, grinding, and electrical discharge machining (EDM). Skillfully prepare and set up automated and manual stamping presses for production runs. This includes aligning and securing dies, adjusting settings for material thickness and type, and ensuring consistent operation to achieve optimal quality and production rates. Implement and adhere to rigorous quality control procedures. Conduct regular inspections and assessments of both tools and the metal parts produced, utilizing precision measurement tools (such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges) to ensure compliance with tolerances and specifications. Document any deviations and collaborate with quality engineers to rectify issues. Execute routine maintenance and repair work on tools, dies, stamping machines, and ancillary equipment to enhance their lifespan and efficiency. Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues as they arise, using diagnostic tools and your extensive knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Work closely with product design engineers to discuss tooling design modifications and improvements based on production experiences. Participate in cross-functional team meetings to address production challenges, ensuring that tools and processes align with evolving project requirements. Maintain comprehensive and precise documentation of tooling specifications, maintenance schedules, and production logs. This will include creating detailed reports on tooling performance, material usage, and production yield metrics, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal procedures. Actively participate in continuous improvement projects, leveraging Lean Manufacturing principles to propose and implement enhancements to tooling designs and production processes. This may involve analyzing production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker, specifically within deep drawn metal stamping operations, with a solid track record of successful project completion. Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics, along with strong mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations. Thorough understanding of machining processes, materials (including stainless steel, aluminum, and composite materials), and advanced heat treatments relevant to tool manufacturing. Familiarity with precision measurement tools and techniques, along with experience using CNC machinery and programming for tool production. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to identify root causes of issues in tooling and production. Proven capability to work independently, exercise initiative, and collaborate effectively as part of a cohesive team in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in tool and die making, machining, or a related field is preferred.
Working Conditions:
This position involves exposure to metalworking machinery, raw materials, and sometimes hazardous elements, necessitating strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations. The role may require prolonged periods of standing and the ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as flexibility to work overtime or shift hours as production demands dictate. We offer attractive, competitive compensation and benefits including, medical, dental, 401k, short-term disability, AD&D, tuition reimbursement, and more.
