Tooling Technician - Day Shift Norwood Medical - 3.4 Dayton, OH Job Details Full-time 20 hours ago Qualifications Vendor relationship building Full Job Description The Tooling Technician supports manufacturing operations by preparing, maintaining, and managing tooling used in CNC machining processes. The role is responsible for assembling and presetting tools to precise specifications, inspecting and repairing tooling to ensure quality and performance, and maintaining accurate inventory levels through purchasing and vendor coordination. Additionally, the position provides critical production support by issuing tools, assisting with machine changeovers, and helping optimize tool usage to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Position Responsibilities:
Tool Preparation & Assembly Assemble tooling according to setup and production requirements; preset, measure, and verify tool assemblies (length, diameters) using presetting equipment. Calibrate equipment to ensure accuracy in the manufacturing process. Tool Maintenance & Repair Inspect tooling for wear, damage, and usability; remove worn or damaged tools from service. Coordinat4e tool regrinding, repair, and refurbishment activities. Tool Inventory Management Monitor tool usage and track inventory levels; maintain inventory of cutting tools, tool holders, inserts, and related tooling to prevent shortages. Partner with vendors to obtain quotes and manage lead times/delivery schedules; place purchase requisitions for tooling inserts, consumables, and supplies, and expedite order as needed. Receive, inspect, and stock incoming tooling shipments. Production Support Issue and receive tooling to and from CNC machining cells and respond promptly to tooling requests from production personnel. Support machine changeovers and new product launches. Assist in monitoring tool usage to help identify cost reduction opportunities. Safety & Quality Follow all company safety policies and PPE requirements and maintain a clean, organized, and safe tool crib environment. Ensure tooling meets quality and production specifications. High School Diploma or GED. Basic mechanical aptitude and dexterity. Familiarity with tool holders, inserts, drills, end mills, taps, and measuring equipment. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong organizational, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills. Able to work independently and collaboratively across the organization. Work as a team player and communicate work related issues as needed. Ability to stand, sit, and walk between departments and buildings across campus locations. Hand dexterity. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
