Job Description

Tool and Die Helper General Summary of Duties The Tool and Die Helper role supports the Toolroom and Production Departments by assisting with the maintenance, repair, and organization of metal stamping dies, tooling, and related equipment. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are willing to learn the trade and develop skills in tool and die operations within a manufacturing environment. Reports To Toolroom Manager Supervision Given None Physical Demands The Tool and Die Helper role requires frequent bending, stooping, stretching, and prolonged standing. Employees may be required to lift up to 50 pounds throughout an ten (10) hour shift. Normal vision and hearing are required, along with good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Typical Working Conditions Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing and factory environment. Duties and Responsibilities Assist Tool and Die Makers with repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting production dies and tooling. Help clean, organize, and prepare tooling and work areas. Assist with die changeovers, tooling setups, and press calls as directed. Learn to safely operate hand tools, measuring instruments, and basic shop equipment. Assist with disassembling and reassembling tooling components for inspection and repair. Transport tooling, materials, and parts within the facility using approved equipment and procedures. Operate forklifts and overhead cranes after completing required training and certification. Follow lockout/tagout procedures and all safety requirements. Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and supervisor direction. Communicate effectively with supervisors, toolroom employees, and production personnel. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform duties with attention to safety, quality, and teamwork. Perform all other related duties as assigned by Toolroom leadership and management. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED preferred No prior Tool and Die experience required Manufacturing experience is helpful but not required Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus On-the-job training will be provided Skills and Performance Requirements To perform successfully in the Tool and Die Helper role, the employee must: Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop new skills Be dependable and maintain good attendance Possess basic mechanical aptitude Be able to follow directions and work in a team environment Have the ability to safely use tools and equipment after training Possess basic math and problem-solving skills Have basic computer skills or willingness to learn Other Requirements Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses are required in all production areas Must comply with all company safety policies and procedures Must be able to work overtime as needed to support production requirements
