Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tool and Die Maker to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for designing and fabricating precision tools, dies, and fixtures used in metal stamping. Your expertise will ensure the production of high-quality components and products by delivering accurate, durable, and efficient tooling solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machinery and cutting-edge fabrication techniques in a dynamic environment dedicated to excellence and innovation. Duties Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and CAD models to develop detailed tool designs using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Program CNC machines including CNC lathes, milling machines, and CAM software to produce precise tooling components. Operate electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment to create complex shapes with high accuracy. Fabricate tooling parts through welding, machining, grinding, and hand tool operations while adhering to strict quality standards. Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy. Assemble tools and dies with mechanical knowledge of stamping presses, plastics injection molding equipment, and other manufacturing machinery. Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on existing tools and dies to optimize performance and longevity. Follow GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles for precise manufacturing specifications. Read schematics and electrical diagrams for electrical discharge machining (EDM) setups or other fabrication processes. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop new tooling solutions that improve efficiency and product quality. Skills High School Diploma or equivalent. Journeymen Tool & Die Makers must have 40 college credits and/or 8000 hours on the job experience Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or CAD for designing detailed tooling components. Strong knowledge of CNC programming for milling machines, lathes, and CAM software integration. Experience operating electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment for complex part fabrication. Skilled in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, or stick welding for tool fabrication or repair. Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes including metal stamping press operations. Ability to read technical schematics, blueprints, and schematics accurately. Expertise in using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, gauges, and dial indicators. Knowledge of GD&T standards to ensure parts meet exact specifications. Familiarity with fabrication tools such as hand tools, grinders, drills, and presses. Strong math skills essential for precise measurements and calculations during tool design and fabrication.
