Job Description

Job Summary A Tool and Die Maker is responsible for creating and maintaining precision tools, dies, and specialized parts used in molds, machinery, and production equipment. This position reports directly to the Mold Maintenance Manager. Roles and Responsibilities Interpreting blueprints and specifications to develop tools and dies Operating and maintaining machines such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or shape parts Operate computer-aided design (CAD/CAM) software to design and modify tools and dies Inspecting finished tools for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects Measure finished parts to ensure they meet specifications using precise measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges 3D scanning equipment and optical comparator Assemble, disassemble, and test products to ensure functionality and quality Knowledge of metal properties and other material Collaborating with engineers and production personnel to ensure quality and functionality of tools Identify and implement changes to improve tool performance and efficiency Troubleshooting issues with tools and recommending repairs or modifications Tool and Die Maker Qualifications and Skills Technical skills and knowledge in machine operation, tool fabrication, and die construction A thorough understanding of blueprints, schematics, and models to accurately construct tools and dies Ability to use computer-aided design (CAD/CAM) software to develop and modify designs Aptitude for precision work and attention to detail to ensure the production of high-quality, tools and dies Strong problem-solving skills to identify and rectify issues during the tool and die making process Physical stamina and strength to operate heavy machinery and work for extended periods Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team and coordinate with other departments Basic knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment Mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of machining methods, metallurgy, and material properties The ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed Education and Training 2 year technical degree or certificate in a skill trades related field Minimum of 5 years experience on the job training working with qualified tool & die makers
Pay:
$32.00 - $34.00 per hour
