Job Description
Job DescriptionThe Tool and Die Technician repairs, and maintains dies, fixtures, and all other tooling in conformance to customer and/or company specifications per control plans. Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to makes and repairs dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. Maintains a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with procedures and safety regulations. The Tool and Die Maker will report to the Maintenance Manager.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Reading and Interpreting Blueprints, design schematics and CAD drawingsVisualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerancesDesign jigs and templates as supports in the fabrication of partsSetting up and operate grinders, mills, lathes, drill presses, parts cleaning, basic ovens, band saws, jib hoistsCutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions. Grinding carbide, fit and assemble parts to make, repair or modify dies, jigs, gauges using machining and hand toolsAssemble and disassemble tools and die parts supporting the production areas to guarantee tools are repaired on time to ensure the continuous production and increase plant productivityInspecting tools and dies for defects, perform repairsDiagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical problems with manufacturing equipmentPerform detailed setup on equipment including recipe changes and control adjustmentsRepair and keep mechanical machine components in top operating conditionMaintain and repair pneumatic systems including repairs of cylinders and other componentsPerform simple to complex mechanical Preventative Maintenance Tasks following instructionsEnter all work completed in computer-based maintenance programAdjust equipment based on Statistical Process Control data and team with QASupport our culture of sustained continuous improvement programs with the Corner Stone Building Brands organizationSupport Tooling Efficiency Improvement and Scrap Reduction Projects. Follow StandardOperating Procedures for Die Repairs and keep detailed records of tool maintenance, repairs, change oversComply & promote all environmental, health & safety programs, laws and regulationsPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsJourneyman Tool and Die Maker Certification, two-year degree in a related field highly preferred5 Years experience as Tool and Die MakerExtensive experience with metal working tools including drills, milling machines, grinders and lathesIn Depth knowledge on troubleshooting in die operation and die AssemblyKnowledge of and experience with Lock-Out, Tag-Out proceduresAble to strictly adhere to safety policies/procedures and be committed to customer quality.
