Job Description
Job Overview The Hydraulic Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining hydraulic systems on truck-mounted booms, cranes, and aerial lift devices. This role focuses on keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready for customer use. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with manufacturers such as Terex, Palfinger, Elliott, and Altec and understands both hydraulic and electrical control systems commonly used on this type of equipment. Responsibilities Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues on truck-mounted cranes, booms, and aerial devices. Repair and replace hydraulic components including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, motors, and fittings. Troubleshoot control systems (joysticks, solenoids, sensors, load moment indicators, and CAN systems where applicable). Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections. Conduct operational and safety tests after repairs to ensure proper function. Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams, and service manuals. Document work performed, parts used, and findings accurately. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all safety procedures and company policies. Communicate clearly with service advisors, foremen, and management regarding equipment condition and repair ne Requirements 3+ years of experience working as a hydraulic mechanic on truck-mounted equipment. Proven experience with brands such as Terex, Palfinger, Elliott, Altec, or similar manufacturers. Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and components. Working knowledge of basic electrical systems related to hydraulic controls. Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
