This is a temp-to-hire opportunity offering $46.24-$52.00 per hour, with a Monday-Friday schedule and a clear path to a long-term career in a stable, production-focused environment. In this hands-on role, you will build and maintain production molds, operate precision tool room equipment, and work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure tooling quality and efficiency. Paid Weekly, Direct Deposit, Affordable Health Care, Full-Time, Career Advancement Opportunities Key Responsibilities Construct new molds and perform repair and maintenance work on existing production molds Safely and efficiently operate tool room machinery, including CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and dimensional tolerance specifications to identify and resolve issues involving materials, tolerances, manufacturing processes, and cost considerations Evaluate mold designs and provide recommendations to improve mold construction and overall functionality Set up and validate injection molds for qualification runs in molding machines Use CAD/CAM software to review and support 3D mold design throughout the build and assembly process Measure and verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and gage blocks Diagnose mold issues and carry out corrective actions as required Communicate tooling concerns and status updates to the tooling supervisor and relevant production staff Collaborate with the tooling supervisor to prioritize tasks and manage workload assignments Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to tooling activities and repairs Perform additional duties as needed to support team operations Qualifications Joureyman Tool and Die Maker certification or equivalent hands-on experience in the trade Five or more years of experience working with plastic injection molds Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, CNC milling machines, and EDM equipment Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks for reviewing and supporting mold design work Strong expertise in electrode design and machining processes Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and engineering documents Solid mechanical aptitude combined with a high level of attention to detail, including the ability to accurately complete tooling documentation and records Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, crouching, and standing for extended periods Commitment to established safety procedures with the ability to work independently or as part of a team SmartTalent Staffing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
