Job Description

Overview:
Responsible for the overall operation of the Life Support Laboratory including staffing, inventory control, water chemistry, quality control, and adherence to governmental and safety policies.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall safe and efficient operation of the Life Support Laboratory.

Operate and maintain all related equipment and chemical processes.

Assist in preparation of annual budget under the direction of the Life Support Supervisor.

Oversee the purchasing of new materials and supplies for the Laboratory.

Communicate testing results to Attending Veterinarian Team and Management via the OERCA Animal Welfare Application.

Communicate testing results to the Life Support Team for real time adjustments.

Oversee the Laboratory's safety program and enforce safety policies and procedures.

Interface with regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations to maintain all standards accordingly.

Work in concert with Life Support Supervisor to ensure all facilities are complaint with both regulatory and accrediting organization as appropriate.

Enforce all departmental policies as needed; follow and enforce all polices of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

Other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
1-3 years previous experience as a Water Quality Laboratory Technician (AZA or ZAA Affiliation Preferred)AALSO Water Quality Certification PreferredExperience with OERCA Animal Welfare Application preferredMust have a thorough working knowledge of water chemistry, as it applies to a wide variety of systems including marine mammal, fish and avian systemsMust be able to work in all types of weather both indoors and outdoorsMust be able to deal effectively with other professionals and governmental agenciesMust possess excellent organizational skillsMust be able to work evenings, weekends and holidaysMust possess good corrected/uncorrected eyesight.

Must be able to read, write and speak EnglishMust be proficient with Microsoft Office Applications
