Job Description
Evergreen Metropolitan District is looking to fill a Wastewater Plant Operator position. The Wastewater Plant Operator, Level C , collects and analyzes wastewater samples, monitors plant equipment and systems, and performs routine and preventive maintenance to ensure efficient operation. Maintains laboratory glassware, equipment, and supplies, manages inventory, and coordinates necessary repairs. Accurately documents daily operations, keeps plant records, and follows established procedures while operating under the supervision of the
ORC. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties are performed under general supervision and include, but are not limited to, those listed below; other duties may be assigned. Operates and maintains wastewater treatment plants and laboratory in compliance with regulatory requirements. Assists with department goals, establishment of schedules and methods for facilities operations, process control improvements, and capital projects. Assists with monitoring and schedule DI equipment maintenance. Assists with preparing and maintaining documentation and reports for CDPHE, management, and the Board. Assist with preventive maintenance, equipment repair and emergency response. Assists with requisitions, inventory, and materials for plant operations; assists with ordering lab equipment and consumables. Provides input for budgets relative to plant fiscal needs. Assist other departments with water and wastewater operations or emergencies. Supports safety and risk management programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. 2+ years of responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of an activated sludge wastewater treatment plant is required. Valid Colorado Driver's License (must be insurable under District standards) within 30 days. Obtain and maintain the following licenses and certifications: Class B CDL (within 6 months) Level D Wastewater required, Level C Wastewater (required to obtain in 6 months) Level 1 Collections required, Level 2 Collections recommended Lab Level 1 certificate is recommended Must obtain CPR Certification within the first two years of employment and maintain this certificate on a biannual basis. Strong communication skills; able to interpret regulations, technical documents, and interact professionally with customers, regulators, and colleagues. Proficient in process control calculations (flow rates, volumes, dosages) and wastewater analysis. Skilled in problem-solving, applying policies, and adapting to varied situations. Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, safety practices, and relevant regulations.
Computer proficiency:
Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, SCADA, Cartegraph. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Must be available for overtime, irregular hours, weekends, evenings, and emergencies. Must be willing to serve in regular on-call rotations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequently required to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Regularly required to stand, walk, drive, climb, kneel, and work in confined spaces. Must be able to use sight, hearing, smell, and touch to monitor facility functionality.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regular exposure to extreme weather conditions. Possible exposure to hazardous materials, loud noise, and unsanitary conditions. The work environment may be physically demanding and require strict adherence to safety protocols. Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, mechanical equipment, odorous fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to heights, extreme weather, unsanitary conditions, and loud noise.
