View More Jobs Wastewater Trainee Millsboro, DE, United States Be the First to Apply Job Description Primary Purpose Will focus on building foundational skills in areas such as wastewater treatment, safety, chemical feed and process chemistry, filtration systems, daily operations, laboratory and water quality testing, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA) and instrumentation, maintenance, and compliance. The trainee will participate in a hybrid program that combines online instruction with hands-on, on-the-job experience, performing basic tasks in a manufacturing setting, all under direct supervision. The program is designed to prepare the trainee to become a licensed wastewater operator during or upon completion of the twelve-month program by equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the wastewater certification exam and gain an understanding of the facility's equipment, systems, and operations. Major Duties & Responsibilities Hybrid (classroom and online) learning in the following areas: safety, preliminary and primary treatment fundamentals, biological treatment fundamentals, and activated sludge fundamentals. On-the-job (OJT) training in equipment identification, equipment start-up, shutdown and operation, sludge handling and dewatering, Instrumentation, SCADA, and controls, troubleshooting, and laboratory and process testing. Wastewater Operator License Test Prep coursework and attainment of a Level I Wastewater Operator license. Successful completion of on-site skills assessments. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Internal candidates must have a minimum of 6 months of service with Mountaire and be in good standing with Human Resources. Entry-level wastewater trainee with 0-1 years' previous work experience. May be required to work and/or attend training classes on weekends and evenings. Must be available to work first, second or third shift. Must possess basic math skills. Trainees will learn the fundamentals of wastewater operations and develop theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and operational understanding required to perform as a Wastewater Operator Level C. The program is designed to prepare participants to obtain a wastewater operator license. This position will initially be offered through an internal trainee program and may be opened to external candidates for future cohorts as business needs require.
