Job Description

Job Summary Perform Daily requirements as a Florida Certified Water Treatment Plant Operator and Utilities distribution and collection system technician. This position involves managing treatment processes, maintaining equipment, and supporting infrastructure to deliver clean water to our community. You will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining a water treatment system while adhering to safety standards and regulatory requirements. Also, You will be responsible for water and sewer utility distribution and collection system, stormwater drainage systems and ponds and street signage and road repairs, ROW utilization and other related municipal type public works functions. This job requires 2 weeks per month working 30 hours per week for a total of 60 hours per month. You will be required to work 2 hours each Saturdays and Sundays of the required work week. This is a temporary part time "AT WILL" position with no benefits. Duties Operate water and wastewater treatment equipment. Conduct routine inspections, data collection, and analysis of treatment processes to maintain compliance with environmental regulations. Perform equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on pumps, valves, filters, and mechanical and electrical systems. Assist with construction projects related to plant upgrades or water distribution system and wastewater collection system infrastructure, road and transportation repairs and ensuring adherence to all safety protocols. Perform plumbing tasks and basic math calculations necessary for system adjustments and chemical dosing. Collect samples, analyze water quality parameters, and document findings accurately for reporting purposes. Cleaning and general building maintenance. Engage in heavy lifting tasks and perform maintenance activities that support the continuous operation of system utilities and treatment facilities. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and repair diverse equipment components. Knowledge of water treatment principles, wastewater collection management practices, and related environmental regulations. Skilled in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and report generation to support operational decisions. Basic plumbing skills combined with a solid understanding of maintenance procedures for complex systems. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during routine inspections or repairs. Good communication skills for documenting procedures, reporting issues, and collaborating with team members. Fundamental understanding of basic math concepts necessary for chemical calculations and system adjustments. Ability to work independently and make efficient and effective descisions without supervision.
Pay:
$30.00 - $50.00 per hour
License/Certification:
FDEP "C" Water Treatment Plant Operators Certification (Required)
